This year, our second grade will be engaged in learning many skills that are necessary for academic growth. Some of what we will be learning includes story mapping and book reports. We will also begin to write in cursive and complete journal entries every morning to enhance our writing skills. In math, we will be engaged in learning double and triple digit addition, as well as time, measurement, temperature, and multiplication. In Religion this year, we will be concentrating on the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. We will learn to love God and Jesus and model our lives after the way that Jesus lived. We will also learn many things in Social Studies and Science this year. Some of the things that we will learn in Social Studies include “Our Nations Capitol” and the difference between states, continents and countries. In Science, our learning will range from earth science (the life cycle of plants) to health science (a proper diet). Throughout the year, our learning will take place in many different ways. We will have many opportunities for small group activities, independent work, and whole group learning. Our students will write summaries, make posters, and create books. We hope to have an extremely fun and productive year!
